DR KRISTY PROUSE, M.D - HORMONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST
|
Dr. Kristy Prouse began her academic career in 1988 at the University of Western Ontario where she completed a BA degree in Psychology, followed by a BSc degree in Genetics and Cell Biology at the University of Toronto. She then earned her medical degree at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. In 1997, Kristy attended the University of Calgary, where she completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology residency training, and received the Laparoscopic Surgery Award of Excellence. A fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as an associate professor of the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Kristy has pursued the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the last 10 years in Mississauga.
Dr Prouse has done additional training in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine through the University of Southern Florida - School of Medicine. A field of medicine and scientific research, anti-aging medicine is aimed at the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related decline. Regenerative medicine, meanwhile, aims to optimize the body's endogenous – or own internal – mechanisms of self-healing, while augmenting the process with proven exogenous – or external-to-the-body – treatments and technologies. Kristy's path to this relatively new, specialized field began with an increasing appreciation of the impact that running a high-volume obstetrical practice was having on her own health and happiness. She concluded that western medicine had little to offer her circumstances, and set out to investigate various forms of complementary medicine, including naturopathic medicine, as well as traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Learning along the way, she began the process of healing herself and opening her mind to new possibilities. Gradually, she discovered that her philosophy about life in general, and medicine in particular, had shifted. I'm now living a more focused, centred and grounded life –with the keen awareness that we only have this moment. Kristy has also come to believe that the face of Canadian medicine needs to change: Patients want to and should be more involved in their own care, while at the same time trusting in a system that includes them in the process. In conjunction with this belief, Dr. Prouse also feels strongly about tailoring care to the individual - after all, no two of us are alike. Dr Kristy Prouse is the founder of the Institute of Hormonal Health in Oakville. |
